High Low Split poker Quiz

Answer: This would put you only at about even money even if you catch a spade on fourth street and might be for only half the pot. Hence, muck this dog.

  1. You make an eight low on fifth poker street with (A♣ 2♣) 5♥ 7♦ 8♣ at seven card stud poker. Your right hand rival poker player shows k♣ 9♦ 2♣ and bets the pot size. Q♥ J♥ 7♣ is shown by the poker player on your left. What is your action when you have plenty of money left?

Reason: It seems that you have mortal lock on low. As you would have to backdoor a high poker hand, a scoop is very unlikely. There should be extra money put into the pot for you to split with the poker player who wins high. This is very important.

The poker player on your left will be forced to fold if you raise. A simple call by you will allow the rival poker player to continue in the pot which is what you want. If you are raising while holding a lock at seven card stud poker, you should consider which would be the likely result in this case as the poker player’s direction might be obvious.

In a multi handed poker pot, it is better to not apply much heat. Also, your rival poker players might draw a wrong conclusion about your poker hand from your failure to raise.

  1. The poker game here is five card omaha. What do you do when you are on the button holding a♣ J♠ 9♦ 6♦ 2♥ and two poker players limp in calling the blind?

Answer: At high low split poker, an A-2 combination is nice. However, the rest of the poker hand is quite useless. Your back up poker card for low is only a six and your ace is not suited. Instead of raising, you should prefer to call. Do not get into trouble.

  1. What is your action when at four card omaha, you pick up an A♠ A♥ 9♦ 5♣ in the first position?

Answer:    Call (10)     Fold (9)     Raise (4)

Reason: Never attempt to narrow the field with A raise. Your poker hand is simply too weak to be shooting it up even though you prefer avoiding a multi handed poker pot. A-5 is unlikely to win low and neither of your aces is suited. Call the blind if you must. However, you should get out if the pot gets raised behind you.

  1. What do you do when you are on the button with A♠ A♦ 4♠ 3♦ and a couple of poker players in early position call the blind?

Answer:     Raise (10)     Call (3)        Fold (-6)

Reason: In both directions, your poker hand has good potential. A raise is in order. You should not reserve raises only for poker hands which contain A-A or a-2 combination.

  1. What do you do when you pick up K♠ Q♥ J♣ 10♥ at Omaha poker and the poker player under the gun opens for the minimum and the poker player in front of you makes A full size raise?

Answer:     Call (10)     Fold (7)       Raise (0)

Reason: One can scoop the pot a high like this even though you cannot win low. No poker player will be able to qualify for low if you hit help on the poker board because of the poker cards you need for high.

  1. What do you do when you are dealt 10♠ 9♥ 8♠ 7♥ in fairly early position at omaha and the poker player on your right opens by calling the blind?

Answer:     Fold (10)     Call (3)     Raise (-3)

Reason: With one poker player going for high, another for low, and some poker player getting carved up in the middle, a typical high low pot is three handed. Naturally, low poker cards Aim for low and high poker cards Aim for high. You should never enter a pot with middle sized poker cards. While playing such a poker hand if you wind up in the middle, do not be surprised.

  1. You hold in early position A♠ K♥ Q♦ J♣ at omaha. You are given a virtually unbeatable aces full as the flop in a five handed poker pot comes A♣ A♦ Q♠. Do you check or bet when the first poker player checks And now it’s up to you?

Answer:     Check (10)     Bet (5)

Reason: You must charge a price to some poker player who might draw at a backdoor low at limit poker. You can afford to check at pot limit poker. If some poker player picks up a draw if a low poker card comes on fourth street, he would still make a mistake by calling your pot size bet.

Checking is the better option. It is possible that some poker player will make a straight or a full house on fourth street with a free poker card whereas they would have folded if you had bet on the flop.

  1. You pick up A♥ K♦ Q♣ 3♦in late position at omaha. Five of you stay for the flop which is J♣ 6♣ 2♣ giving you a draw at the nut low. The second poker player calls As the first poker player comes out firing the pot size. What should you do in such a scenario?

Answer:     Fold (10)      Call (3)     Raise (-2)

Reason: There is A risk of a tie for low whenever you have a low poker draw with no chance for high. Tying with one other poker player in a three handed poker pot means getting back 75 cents on each dollar you put into the pot. You are getting back 50 cents on the dollar if you tie with two other poker players.

The most likely layout out here is the bettor might have a flush and the caller might have the same low draw as yours. It would be an error to play if you actually do so. If the low gets counterfeited on the end by an ace or three, it is A further drawback to your poker hand. You should fold this poker hand as you have no back up low poker card and you will get a zero.

  1. You hold Q♦ J♥ J♣ 10♥ at omaha. The flop comes down J♦ 7♣ 2♦, giving you a top set. You bet the pot and get a call from the button. The low is made possible as on fourth street comes the 6♣. You check. What is your action now when the rival poker player bets the pot size and there is plenty of money left?

Answer:     Fold (10)     Call (5)     Raise (0)

Reason: Your rival poker player is free rolling for high as he has undoubtedly made his low. The three jacks will almost surely be in jeopardy after fifth street is dealt even though they are still the best possible high. Many poker cards could make a straight as there are flushes working in two suits.

You will be faced with an unpleasant guess As there will be no good way to know whether your rival poker player has scooped or is still betting his low when he fires on the end. Assume that there is $100 in the pot and the rival poker player bets $100. If you call, you are simply trying to protect half the present pot ($50).

$400 more will be put in jeopardy by calling now and again on the river. Thus, you are laying 8 to 1 chances of the rival poker player out drawing you. Rather than trying to protect that $50 by chasing with a big hunk of your stack, it is better to fold now.

    To aim for the whole poker pot is the most important principle of pot limit high low split poker. This is the case with both in your selection of your starting poker hands And subsequent poker play. The amount of possible gain is small without scoop potential. However, the amount of exposure is large.
