Omaha eight-or-better would be a split-pot poker game.

The best high hand would win The pot, and the best low hand would win The other half, as long as the low hand would consist of five cards of different ranks, with no card being higher than an eight.

Straights and flushes would be disregarded for low, and the ace could be used as the lowest card. It would also be possible to win both the high and the low known as scooping the pot and this would be the main objective when playing omaha eight-or-better poker game.

As in regular Omaha, you would have to use two cards from you hand and three cards from the board.

Still, your high hand could be a different five-card combination from that used to make your low hand.

Tip No. 1: Playing hands containing ace-deuce, ace-trey, or four big cards.

Hands that would include ace-deuce or ace-trey would general guidelines be playable, although an ace-trey with nothing else often would have to be thrown away from an early position.

Four big cards would also be good Starting poker hands, and they would be remarkably good if
a pair would be involved.

Tip No. 2: In late position, you could play some weaker hands in an unraised pot.

Acting last would provide you with an prospect to win more money when you would get a lucky flop.

This would mean That you would have to play some weaker poker hands from a late position,
as long as you could get in cheaply and your hand would have some value.

For instance, you generally would have to throw away.

 

But in a very late position in an unraised pot, poker starting hands like this could be played.

Tip No. 3: You shouldn’t play medium-sized cards.

The problem with playing medium-sized cards would be that you couldn’t make the nuts, barring infrequent exceptions.

Besides, when you would flop what would look like A good hand, you typically would be putting out some low cards.  Consequently, you would be likely at best to share the pot.

Tip No. 4: To continue playing on The flop you would need either the nuts
or a draw at the nuts.

As in standard omaha, the best possible poker hand would often be out in Omaha eight-or-better particularly for low.

This would mean That drawing to a trey-deuce low when There would not be an ace on board could be costly. So unless you were to flop the nuts, you would have to dump your hand.

Tip no. 5: High hands would lose value against low hands.

Once three low cards were to appear on board, your poker high low hand would have lost most of its value. Not only would Someone holding a low win half the pot, but you could lose the high to a straight as well.

For instance, Suppose you were to have a pair of eights in your hand and an eight were to flop, along with two other small cards.  Although you now would have trips it would be probable that a rival either already would have made a straight or would have a straight draw.

In This position, you would not have a strong poker hand.

Tip No. 6: Turning your cards face up when The hand would be over.

Many poker hands would be difficult to read in Omaha eight-or-better, particularly if you were to
be new to the game of cards.  By allowing the dealer to read your hand, you wouldn’t mistakenly dispose the winner.
